Allegheny Mineral and Snyder Associated Company employees recently participated in the Pick-Up Pennsylvania campaign. The team cleared trash from the 3-mile stretch of Barron and Swope Roads in Slippery Rock and Worth Townships. The cleanup yielded 15 garbage bags of primarily fast-food trash, plastic bottles and cans, 2 TVs, and a truck bumper.
Sadly, a 2018-2019 Pennsylvania litter research study found an estimated 502 million pieces of litter on PA roads, with local roads having an average of 1,030 litter items per mile. Cigarette butts, plastics, and paper are the top three discarded materials.
Our clean-up team has committed to maintaining the beauty of our local township roads and is currently planning other locations to clean up.
